(On this page we see that God has had a plan for renewal right from the very instance of ‘the fall’ - with its effects on humankind as well as his whole creation. As outlined on previous pages of this site, God has, in fact, already ‘done something’ (other than merely obliterating everyone and everything) by sending Jesus to pay on our behalf the (just) penalty for our sin and sinfulness. Through the suffering and death of his own innocent son God freed us from the grip of the enemy and the inevitable and irreversible consequences we had faced.

This has enabled the setting in place of a final countdown in God’s plan to provide for himself and his people a ‘new heaven and a new earth’ that will become a restoration and reinstatement of all his good purposes.)

(The calling out of a ‘chosen people’ through the faith of Abraham)

Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”

The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Romans 4: 13‑25 NIV

Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.

But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

(When tragic world events happen, seemingly at random or from natural and human causes, some suggest it is not plausible that an all-powerful and loving God would not stop such things from occurring. However, the issues confronting God are not so simple and straight forward as these comments suggest. (See God’s good, acceptable and perfect will) For example there would be serious implications for people if God were to arbitrarily intervene in some situations and not others. How far should such interventions go before people’s personal ability to think and choose autonomously would be negated to the degree that humanity is reduced to no more than mere creature or mechanical robot?

From the bible, we find that God’s plan to ‘do something’ (by creating a new heaven and a new earth that is free from death and sin) is already destined and being outworked in this world. Meanwhile, the enemy still has a time-limited but legal entitlement to maintain his influence on the earth - though it is promised that more people turning towards God(7) would help curtail Satan’s relentless quest to wreak his devastation and would help to usher in God’s ‘final solution’ where a reign of his perfect will and goodness is restored.

Many who suggest that God should ‘intervene’ do not realise that when he does, people’s attitude of heart will determine how they fare, for better or worse, when God restores his sovereignty with a full and final putting away of all that is not part of the purity and perfection of his renewed heaven and earth – where all together self will, rebellion, evil, injustice, suffering and death will be removed forever.

Simply receiving His truth in our heart, even if struggling to comprehend it all in our mind, will allow us to become reborn by His spirit and reconnected to his destiny for humanity as the ‘crowning glory’ of His creation.)

As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumours of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
