Some thoughts from writer:
I had long contemplated presenting some kind of defense of someone I believed to have become the most maligned, misunderstood, misrepresented and marginalised individual in this world, sometimes – it has seemed all too often – even by his own most ardent adherents; and it has proved to be an ambitious undertaking. One reason is because of his own attitude toward those who contribute to his unpopularity. Despite aspersions cast about his nature and character, he does not retaliate or lash out, or seek revenge or become petulant and vindictive.
What he does is continue to reach out to all with open arms - but his patience, unfortunately, only fuels argument from those who assert that the evidence for him being there is not sufficient, and who continue to demand that he should show himself in more convincing ways. However, in learning to consider issues from his point of view, rather than our own, it becomes apparent that for him to reveal himself more directly than he already has, would result in undesirable consequences for our relationship of faith with him that neither he, nor any of us if we fully understood, would in any sense wish to have come about.
When considering who he is, compared to us, it does seem to make a lot of sense to begin paying a whole lot more respect and attention to what he is trying to say to us. If what is presented here helps any person, in any regard, come to a greater understanding and experience of his reality, closeness and goodwill, it will, for their sake, be considered to have been a task infinitely worthwhile.
