Gaining a God Perspective

To begin: A rationale is presented on the following page for taking the bible as our main reference point in coming to know about God and for using it as our primary resource for understanding what he reveals about himself and his purposes towards people. Hopefully, readers will find insight into these issues unfolding by progressing through the pages of this site. However, the various menu lists may also be used to follow topics of particular interest that will help offer some insight into the perspective that God brings to some of the issues that so often challenge our ability to believe.

Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! For who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice? And who has given him so much that he needs to pay it back? For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Romans 11: 33‑36 NLT

By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; by his knowledge the watery depths were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew. Proverbs 3: 19‑20 NIV

and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55: 6‑9 NIV

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell [in the grave, or in the ground], behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. Psalm 139: 7‑10 NASB

. . . but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s Law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8: 6-8 NIV

Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counsellor? Whom did he consult, and who made him understand? Who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding? Isaiah 40: 13‑14 ESV

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. 2 Timothy 4: 3‑4 ESV

"You felt secure in your wickedness and said, 'No one sees me,' Your wisdom and your knowledge, they have deluded you; For you have said in your heart, 'I am, and there is no one besides me.' Isaiah 47:10‑11 NASB

God will bring about [the reappearance of our Lord Jesus Christ] at the proper time--He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see To Him be honour and eternal dominion! Amen. 1 Timothy 6:15‑16 NASB

The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things; and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His children’. Have you comprehended the earth in its breadth? Declare, if you know it all.  . . . By what way is the lightning distributed, or the east wind scattered on the earth? . . . Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you establish its dominion over the earth? . . . Who provides for the raven his prey, when his young ones cry to God, and wander for lack of food? Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, . . . “Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be [in the right]? Or do you have an arm like God?
